Plastic and aesthetic surgery

Our hospital has recently expanded its services to include plastic and aesthetic surgery. Our specialists focus mainly on post-bariatric surgery, thus helping to complete the transformation of body contours after significant weight reduction. This is most frequently an abdominoplasty, a treatment for an overhanging and loose abdomen. Sometimes it is appropriate to reduce and shape breasts or correct sagging arms and thighs. In addition, they routinely perform procedures that reduce facial aging, such as facelifts and eyelid or neck correction surgery. However, it is possible to indicate the procedure from the whole spectrum of plastic and aesthetic surgery individually according to the patient's needs.

Range of procedures:

Abdominoplasty, lipoabdominoplasty

It improves the contour of the abdomen, removes excess skin after pregnancy or after weight loss. If there is a distance, it brings the two parts of the direct abdominal muscle together, shifting the navel.

In patients with a higher layer of subcutaneous fat, it can be combined with liposuction to enhance the waist, lean the hips and the area under the breasts. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.
Result: a flatter abdomen without an overhang, scar in the lower abdomen and around the belly button; anchor shape cuts are required in patients after a large weight reduction
The postoperative period and convalescence: hospitalization is usually 3–7 days, drains are introduced in the wound, which are removed if they drain away minimal fluid, wear a special lap belt for 6 weeks to 3 months depending on the condition of the abdominal wall, and a return to normal physical activity in 68 weeks.

Miniabdominoplasty

Reducing the skin under the navel, which remains in its original position, can be combined with liposuction of the abdomen and hips. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.

Result: removal of overhang and sagging skin, missing scar around navel, remaining long scars in the lower abdomen
Postoperative period and convalescence: hospitalization 2–4 days, until drains are pulled out, return to normal activity after about 2–5 weeks. We recommend wearing the lap belt or elastic underwear for about a month.

Sculpture of arms and thighs

Excess skin and subcutaneous tissue on the inside of the arms and thighs are removed, for a better aesthetic output it can be combined with liposuction. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.

  • Result: reinforced contour of arms and thighs, scars of various lengths on the inner side (according to the amount of correction needed)
  • Postoperative period and convalescence: hospitalization 2–4 days until the drains are removed, compressive underwear is worn for 6 weeks and a return to activity in about a month.

Shrinking, modelling, breast enlargement

We provide breast adjustments according to the possibilities and wishes of the patient. Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia, while there are usually scars around the pectoral areola after breast reduction and modelling, vertically and in the periareolar area. In augmentation (implant breast augmentation), the scar is located in the periareolar area.

Postoperatively: hospitalization 2–4 days, until drainage, wearing modelling bras, return to normal activity after about 4–6 weeks.
Gynecomastia surgery
Gynecomastia means enlarged breasts in men. This may be caused by an enlarged mammary gland, multiplication of subcutaneous fat or a combination of both. Liposuction is most often performed during surgery, and the enlarged gland is removed from the incision at the bottom of the areola. In some men the discovery is advanced and it is necessary to reduce the skin. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.

  • The result: a flat chest, a scar in the lower edge of the areola, if there is a need to reduce the skin, there is a different scar on the skin of the chest and around the whole areola
  • Postoperative period and convalescence: hospitalization 2–4 days until the drains are removed, compressive underwear is worn for 6 weeks and a return to activity in about a month.

Liposuction

Liposuction is not a method of weight reduction – it is a procedure in which excess fat is sucked away from problematic parts that resist physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Most often it is used on the abdomen, hips, back, inner and outer thighs and knees. In St. Zdislava Hospital, tumescent vibration liposuction is performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

  • The result: improved contour of the problem area, a few small wounds to introduce the cannula
  • Postoperative period and convalescence: wearing elastic compression underwear for 6 weeks, return to normal activity according to the range of surgery
  • in 1–2 weeks

Facelift

It stretches the skin and subcutaneous structures of the face, raises the cheeks, softens the nosoretic grooves, smooths the silhouette of the lower jaw and tightens the neck. This procedure can be combined with eyelid surgery. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.

  • The result: natural facial rejuvenation, fine scars in front of the ear and in the hair of the temples and behind the ears
  • Postoperative period and convalescence: hospitalization 2–4 days until the drains are removed, necessary to wear compression one to two weeks after surgery, need to consume soft food, swelling, return to normal activity in about 14 days.
